I am an avid naturalist who loves to adventure. I have a strong adoration of the outdoors that has guided me to many strange and beautiful places. My enthusiasm centers on sharing my love of the outdoors with others.
My inspirations come from a variety of sources: Ursula K. LeGuin, David M. Carroll, Charles Darwin, Ursula Vernon, Clare Walker Leslie, Rachel Carson and Steve Irwin.
I work in many different mediums although I am quite partial to scratchboard. I enjoy trying out new media, or combining them.
Currently, I am enjoying teaching and exploring in the beautiful North Cascades National Park.
My previous excursions have included exploring the Galapagos Islands, hiking 1,000 miles in the Appalachian mountains, working on a ranch in Montana’s Paradise Valley, studying wetlands in Iowa, and braving swarms of mosquitoes on the barrier islands of the Chesapeake Bay.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Wildlife Science from Virginia Tech, and a Certificate of Natural Science Illustration from the University of Washington. I am currently working on a Masters of Environmental Education from Western Washington University.
My hobbies include hiking, birdwatching, reading (science fiction and fantasy), making ice cream, writing and learning to juggle.
